This is the magical pixie forest. It is a short hike to the north of the Greybeard Overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina. It is an area where the wind blows changing patterns in the grass and there is often fog even when it is sunny other places.
I visit it frequently in the spring and early summer before eager photographers and illegal campers have mashed down the grasses. There is always some new pattern. This day was very bright and had no fog, so I decided to use my infrared camera to bring out the trail through the grasses. I chose to go from the dark of the beech tree forest and up into the light at the edge of the forest. It is a magic forest so why not walk towards the light.
